A Foundation of Giving: A Commitment to Community
1st Source Bank is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Through the 1st Source Foundation we provide dozens of organizations throughout northern Indiana and southwest Michigan with funds that help them better serve their communities. This video showcases three examples of that generosity throughout the 1st Source footprint in 2021.
1st Source Donates to New Fort Wayne Rescue Mission
The 1st Source Foundation donated $100,000 to cap off a $20.1 million capital campaign to build a new Rescue Mission in downtown Fort Wayne. 1st Source Bank President Andrea Short and Fort Wayne Region President Larry Mayers both spoke on behalf of 1st Source during a news conference to discuss the successful capital campaign. Rescue Mission CEO and Senior Pastor Donovan Coley expressed appreciation for the donation, but also talked about 1st Source as a company that has the right values.
1st Source Gets on Board with Valparaiso Skatepark
The Valpo Parks Department is on a roll as it moves forward on a new community skatepark and it received a boost from 1st Source. Design plans, site selection and overall site layout have all been approved. Now it’s time to raise money and 1st Source kicked off the campaign with a $50,000 donation. 1st Source Bank Region President Matt Vessely delivered the ceremonial check to the Valpo Parks Department.
Southwestern Michigan College Scores with Assist From 1st Source
Work is underway on what will become the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac. Renovations to the current athletic facilities are funded by a $400,000 donation from the 1st Source Foundation. The fieldhouse will provide new opportunities for students and will allow the school to begin new sports programs in the fall of 2022, including men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and men’s wrestling. Southwestern Michigan College President Joe Odenwald has called the donation transformative for the school. He talks about the work being done, the benefits for students, and the commitment from 1st Source.
